2011 – The year in Technology.

Another year comes to an end. As 31st of december approaches, we look back at some of the most significant trends in technology for which 2011 will be remembered. From the revolutions being organised on social media to tablets being the latest front of competition between tech companies, 2011 has been a remarkable year for technology. Technology plays a integral part of our daily life and information is being shared at the speed of light.

So, what will 2011 be remembered for? Will it be for the greater intrusion of social media in our daily life or the year where numerous tablets and smartphones ruled the media coverage? Or will it be remembered as the year Steve Jobs passed away. The answer to all the above questions is a Yes and a No.

Yes, because 2011 will really be rememberd for these events and trends and No because these are not the only reasons to remember it. There have been many other significant developments as well, which will affect us for many years to come.

2011 witnessed some of the biggest attacks on security and then there were the concerns of online censorship by the governments of India and many other countries. 2011 also witnessed of the rise of Cloud Computing and how it became the ‘Next Big Thing’ from being called one.

 

Wikileaks continued its act of revealing shocking and embarassing disclosures for governments across the globe and Jullian Assange became a known face across nations. Google, Apple and Microsoft took their rivalries to a new level with filing lawsuits against each other while Samsung faced Apple for a series of patent violations in courts across the States, Europe and Australia.

So, what does 2012 have in store for us? Plenty, we would say. With all this happening, there is so much to look forward to.With Microsoft entering the smartphone and tablet segment while rates continue to drop across service providers for different services and so on there is a lot to look forward to.
